(an apex body of all the major ports of India, which are under the administrative control of Ministry of Shipping, Government of India)

RESOURCES

The library collection of IPA comprises of over 7,500 books, reports, conference proceedings, periodicals and monographs etc, on subjects i.e. Port and Harbor, Port Engineering, Operation & Management, Port Planning Manuals, Maritime Security, Maritime Law, Material handling, Marine Environment, Information Technology, Human Resources Management etc. Besides Acts, Rules and Regulations issued by Govt. on Ports and Shipping Sector, Reports and Papers of various International bodies like IMO, IAPH, ESCAP, UNCTAD, ILO, World Bank etc are also available. It also maintains various technical and feasible reports prepared by Govt. and non-Govt. bodies involved in Maritime Sector.

In addition, IPA subscribes about 43 International and National journals. Some of the subscribed foreign journals on the Maritime Sector are: Bulk solids handling, Cargo systems International, Containerization International, Ports and Harbor, World Port Development, Singapore Maritime & Port Journal, Fairplay Shipping Weekly, Lloyd's Ship Manager, Maritime Policy and Management, World Wide Shipping, Seatrade, Dredging and Port Construction. Newspaper Clippings for current awareness service are also being maintained.

The publications in the Library are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme. A database of complete library holdings is available on the CDS/ISIS package.

REFERENCE SERVICES:

  • Students, Research Scholar, and Employees of Govt. organizations / PSU's may refer the library at a cost of Rs 25/- per visit and consultants may refer the library at a cost of RS 100/-per visit.
     

  • Library is open for reference for Consulting Organizations, Educational and Research Institutions and Libraries at the cost of membership fee of RS 5,000/- per annum.

It may be noted that IPA Library may be consulted only for reference. We intend to provide photocopying facility to the members on charge basis. Inter-library loan facility is available on nominal cost.
